The Massachusetts Historical Society (MHS) is the first such organization in the United States, dating back to the 18th century. The MHS welcomes the public to form a deeper understanding of American
history through their collections and resources. This educational mission stems from a single guiding principle: We need to know our past to create the future we want. When parts of the MHS landmark
building required repairs, First Republic was there with a tax-exempt loan to help fund the necessary work. With the support of First Republic, the MHS can focus on bringing history to life — just as they
have since 1791.
