Managing Director, Foreign Exchange
San FranciscoChris Fernandes is a Managing Director in the Foreign Exchange Division at First Republic Bank, serving as a corporate FX risk strategy advisor.
Mr. Fernandes joined First Republic Bank in July 2012, continuing a foreign exchange career that began in 1981. Prior to joining First Republic, Mr. Fernandes was with Bank of the West for the past 15 years, providing foreign exchange advisory services for the bank’s clientele with a specialization in the winery and agriculture sectors. His involvement in the FX profession started with Crocker Bank, where he served on the interbank trading desk, managing the bank’s Canadian and Australian dollar portfolios. Along with two other Crocker Bank FX officers, Fernandes subsequently opened and operated the West Coast FX office for Thomas Cook Foreign Currency, supporting the company’s wholesale banknote trading functions.
Mr. Fernandes graduated from University of California Berkeley with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Journalism and English.
