Mr. Sear has served as a financial adviser to wealthy families and institutional investors for the past 21 years. He began his career at Goldman Sachs in 1993 in the Private Client Group. After four years at Goldman Sachs, Mr. Sear and his entire team joined Merrill Lynch in 1997. At Merrill Lynch, Mr. Sear helped to build the Private Banking and Investment Group. In May 2008, Mr. Sear co-founded Luminous Capital, an independent Registered Investment Advisory firm. Luminous Capital had $5.9 billion of assets under management when it was acquired by First Republic Bank in December 2012.
Mr. Sear was an NCAA collegiate golfer and is currently an active volunteer and supporter of the South Central Scholars Fund, a foundation providing funding and support for inner city college-bound youth.
Mr. Sear holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of the Pacific, Stockton (1985) and an MBA from The Leavy School of Business at Santa Clara (1991).
