Deposit Accounts

• How are my accounts with First Republic affected by the JPMorgan Chase acquisition?
  You can use your First Republic accounts — make deposits and withdrawals and move money. You can use the same First Republic online banking sites, apps, checks, account numbers, routing numbers, ATM and debit cards, PINs and customer service phone numbers. We will notify you in advance of any changes.
• Do I need to move my accounts to J.P. Morgan and/or Chase?
  No, that’s not necessary. You can use your First Republic accounts — make deposits and withdrawals and move money. You can use the same First Republic online banking sites, apps, checks, account numbers, routing numbers, ATM and debit cards, PINs and customer service phone numbers. We will notify you in advance of any changes.
• Is my money safe?
  Yes. Now that First Republic is part of JPMorgan Chase, First Republic clients benefit from JPMorgan Chase’s fortress balance sheet.

• Do I need to take any actions on my First Republic deposit accounts?

  Clients that held First Republic deposit accounts prior to May 1, 2023, need to take action. Per the notice that was sent by the FDIC in early May, clients who held First Republic deposit accounts prior to May 1, 2023, must take action to claim ownership of their First Republic deposits by November 1, 2024. You can claim ownership by taking any of the following actions on your First Republic deposit accounts:

  1. Transact on your First Republic checking or savings account:
  • This includes writing a check on a First Republic deposit account, automatic direct deposits, automatic withdrawals/payments, an online transfer between your First Republic accounts, conducting a transaction at a First Republic Preferred Banking Office, or a transfer between a First Republic deposit account and a First Republic investment account.
  • Transactions that do not qualify include transactions between First Republic investment accounts or interest payments made by First Republic on deposit accounts.
  2. If you are unable to initiate a transaction on your account(s), you can:
  • Write to us at the address below and ask that your account(s) remain active.

  • Execute a new signature card at a First Republic Preferred Banking Office to change the ownership of an account (e.g., add or remove a signer).
  • Contact us to update your address (if you need to change your address).

  Please be aware that bank drafts (such as official checks, cashier’s checks, money orders, dividend checks, interest checks and expense checks) issued by First Republic are considered deposits and must also be claimed (cashed or renegotiated) by November 1, 2024.

• Do I have to take an action to claim ownership of each of my First Republic deposit accounts?
  Note: This applies only to First Republic deposit accounts held prior to May 1, 2023.
  
  

  • Consumer accounts: One of the actions taken by an account owner (including but not limited to co-owners and trustees) on one of their First Republic deposit accounts will automatically claim that account owner’s consumer deposit relationship.
  • Business accounts: One of the actions taken by a business owner/authorized signer on one of their First Republic business deposit accounts will also claim deposits for all deposit accounts that use the same tax identification number.
• What if I do not claim ownership of my deposits by November 1, 2024?
  Note: This applies only to First Republic deposit accounts held prior to May 1, 2023.
  
  Federal law requires unclaimed deposits be transferred to the State’s Unclaimed Property Division, according to your address listed with First Republic. If your address is outside of the United States, the FDIC will deliver the deposits to California, where First Republic had its main office.
• Can I have payments direct deposited into my First Republic accounts?
  Yes. You can direct deposit payments, including payroll, Social Security and other electronic payments, into your First Republic deposit accounts. To learn more about direct deposit, go here. We will notify you in advance of any changes.
• Will I receive ATM rebates on my First Republic ATM Rebate Checking® account?
  Yes. There are currently no changes to the terms of your account. You will receive ATM rebates when you use your First Republic ATM/Debit card to withdraw funds from your ATM Rebate Checking account, worldwide. We will notify you in advance of any changes.
• Can I use First Republic bill payment services?
  Yes. You can use the First Republic bill payment service for existing or new bill payments. We will notify you in advance of any changes.
• I have a Certificate of Deposit (CD) with First Republic. Is my interest rate changing?
  There is no change to your CD interest rate until maturity. At maturity, unless you provide us with other instructions, your CD will automatically renew for the same term and at the interest rate and annual percentage yield published on the maturity date for that term. Please note that if your maturing CD term is no longer published on the rate sheet, the applicable rate will be that of the next shorter available term. • Can I open a new First Republic checking, savings or Certificate of Deposit (CD) account?
  Yes. To open an account, including a CD (or to renew a CD), reach out to your banker or visit a Preferred Banking Office.

• I received a notification that my First Republic Preferred Banking Office is closing. How do I find other locations?
  Please visit our locations page for a current list of Preferred Banking Offices and hours of operation.
• Can I now bank at J.P. Morgan and Chase locations?
  For now, you should continue banking at First Republic offices and using First Republic online banking sites and apps. Over time, we’ll be working to combine systems so you can enjoy expanded branch convenience.
• My banker is no longer with First Republic. Whom do I contact?

• Will I be charged a fee if I use my First Republic ATM/Debit card at Chase ATMs?
  First Republic clients can use their First Republic Consumer Debit and/or Business Debit cards at the large U.S. network of Chase ATMs. They will not be assessed fees for withdrawals and will no longer be asked to accept a fee when making a withdrawal from a Chase ATM.
